Pomona Hope Community Center

Programs   Directions  Contact Information

The vision of the Pomona Hope Community Center is to strengthen the youth of Pomona, their families and neighborhoods by equipping them to act powerfully to transform their community. The Center will accomplish this by creating a safe environment for the youth, building individual and group relationships, providing educational opportunities and encouraging the community to organize themselves to address the issues of their neighborhood.

The purpose of the PHCC is to be a locus of empowerment and outreach to the people of inner city Pomona that both provides programmatic support to the residents and builds the community's relational power. The community center would be designed for a full spectrum of ages - adults, youth and children. It could include the following emphases and programming:

  • Youth outreach
  • Tutoring
  • Computer laboratory
  • Job-training and placement effort
  • Relationship-building both individually and in house meetings
  • Organizing people for action on commonly-identified issues
  • Getting community adults involved at every level both of the community center and in the organizing effort.
